Community Outreach Program

Christ Centered Youth Giving Back to their Community

Objective

To get our children involved with the community by volunteering their time, talents, and treasures.

Why

Our children will learn to give of themselves, which is in keeping with the true Catholic Spirit. Volunteering can help kids develop positive relationships with other people, which in-turn can help them develop skills such as cooperation and empathy. It can also build upon the characters of our children by showing them they have the power to make change and provide help to others. Likewise, these traits will help them in their own decision making processes and how to handle tough situations.

Goals

  1. Gain and keep the support of our church, teachers, and parents
  2. Provide our children with an avenue to reach the community and make a difference through volunteer efforts using Catholic values
  3. Become aware of our community around us
  4. Develop positive relationships outside of our school and church walls
  5. Circulate the name of our school and church in the community and surrounding areas

How Will Our Children Serve?

They will bring comfort to children in hospitals by creating our very own St. Mary's care kits filled with art supplies, small toys, and handmade cards.

Our children will also send a bit of home to soldiers who are deployed in Iraq by writing and designing cards for them, too.

Plus many worthwhile causes and organizations will be served by our children through small fundraising activities, such as: bake sales, taco sales, car washes, toy drives, etc.

Other worthy acts may include community clean-up days, adopting a needy family, and/or bringing canned foods to school for the hungry.
