Art

We are getting “warmed up” in the art room! We will be concentrating for the
next eight weeks on drawing. We will experiment with contour drawing, blind
contour drawing and continuous line drawing. Our efforts continue as we practice
on shading and value. We will review the elements of art - line, shape, form, space,
color, texture and value. We focus this year more on practicing drawing at home.

Five minutes each night improves drawing skills! As our skills improve, we will
look forward to a “portrait party”! Later on, we will review and practice our
painting techniques. Looking forward to beginning a well though out painting,
which concentrates on competition and good painting techniques.

Our “artist of the month” gets the students aquaited with various artists of the past
and present. We learn about their style of creating art, as well as their important
place in history. Sometimes we will try to “copy” their style, just for fun!
The fine art of “printmaking” will be introduced. Students develop an
understanding of printmaking and the artists that created them. We experiment
with Styrofoam printmaking, as well as “nature” prints.

Some things to look forward to – Picasso's line drawings, splatter art, Bates' crazy
animals, fruit faces, angels in art and MORE!
And remember.....

"You can mess up your life, but you can't mess up art."
